I’m 90% certain that bows and arrows will feature in the game. In the gameplay demo I’ve seen of the game it looks as though each combat scenario has incredible tension associated there will be no hack and slash cookie-cutter encounters to be found. All of this sets Kingdom Come Deliverance to have quite a steep learning curve, the type of game that if you’re good you’re really good. If it all works out I will be hugely impressed by the physics engine of this game.
For example a clothe gambeson would give protection against a slashing attack but not to a stabbing or blunt force attack. KCD revolves around a highly developed combat system whereby you have to closely watch the movements of you opponent and react in kind. Its too people hacking at each other with big clumsy paddles (at least thats what it looks like). I know, for some the combat in Skyrim looks pretty real too. It’s hard to explain, but the combat looks real. In order for your character to stay healthy you won’t just take a vitality potion, you will need to manage hunger levels by eating, dehydration levels by drinking and tiredness levels by periodically sleeping. There hasn’t been much said about the story as of yet but it states that the player will be a part of the activities that lead up to the 100 years war. Plus, lets face it, the mage character is always pure s**i, so why not get rid of it. I’m a bit of a history nerd and I’ve always wanted this type of game.
Or the elves, orcs, argonians… Despite this, the game looks pretty amazing. Basically, it’s to be Skyrim without the magic.
Kingdom Come Deliverance began from humble beginnings in 2016 with a successful kick-starter campaign (see guys, I like Good Indie games) with the promise of delivering an open world RPG set in a realistic and historically accurate setting.
